It was interesting to come back and reread the description of this scent before writing my review. I got a very green floral with some white, and a smoky incense base. But I didn’t get iris as such. I couldn’t have even picked out an individual floral note. It’s a very well integrated and balanced scent. Not overwhelming for day wear, but sexy enough for evening. Maybe a teensy bit traditionally feminine in the florals, but the resinous base takes it right back squarely into unisex territory. Medium projection. Excellent wear, over 8 hours, performed almost like an extrait, especially on fabric. I didn’t personally LOVE the blend enough for 5 stars, but the quality is undeniable!

I have been on an orris bender, and this is scratching a deep, deep itch for me. This may have just knocked Iris Malikhan out of the top spot, it’s that good. The bold opening of iris pallida is a pleasant surprise, since she is usually shy and quiet. After she settles down into the heart, she is carried by cedar and incense for a gentle, yet unapologetic finish. This is definitely going on the full bottle wishlist.

I used a perfume guide 2018 by Luca Turin and got a sample 5ml. I can choose a volume of samples and learn about perfume. I like the spring smell of mimosa first, after sweet fruity at the end. It lasts 5 -8 hours and moderate sillage. Perfect for spring and maybe for autumn . My favorite from Papillon is strong Salome and mild Hera for cold winter.
