A subtly metallic, peppered beginning gives way to a more resinous heart and powder accents. This 2017 release from Marlou is a continuation of the visionary brand’s exploration of polarizing animalics. One of the most common responses to this body of work is, “At first I hated it, but I kept going back and now I’m obsessed.” Perhaps a part of this experience is that Marlou questions the notion that fragrance should mask things like the smell of dirty skin. We’ve come a long way from the age of the unwashed Victorians.
