Sådanne is the very first floral fragrance in the Slumberhouse collection, and marks a new direction for the creative Portland perfume house. Josh Lobb takes on roses, but gives them his signature twist. First, he drenches the flowers in fruited liqueur, then he adds a glossy sheen of candied syrup. He finishes it all up with streaks of green foliage, dark earth, forest notes, and leathery, balsamic resins. The end result is a rubied rose that glows and shimmers with an iridescent quality.
Like a chameleon, Sådanne changes on the skin, unfolding petal by petal, and showing little twists each time. The bright flashlight of wine-drenched, syrupy roses transforms first into something darker, then into a gentle cloud that envelops you with surprising softness. Yet, the most fascinating about Sådanne are the mysterious fruits that lie at the perfume's heart. Are they strawberries in syrup and champagne, tart cherries in wine, candied apples, or something else entirely? Josh Lobb won't say, but we thought it made Sådanne one of the most intriguing rose fragrances that we'd tried in a while.
