« "A rose is a rose is a rose..." this famous saying written by Gertrude Stein, one of the most prominent artists of the 20th century. This phrase simply states that among all flowers the rose is truly unique and today we have more than 50 varieties. Roses can be light, sublime, fresh, seductive, soft and also erotic when blended with patchouli and musk. I answered this delicate flower’s provocative calling with soft and voluptuous notes, and among all I have chosen the May Rose as it is the most cultivated flower in Grasse. For me Rose de Mai smells the brightest and most cheerful. » Jean Claude Ellena

Notes:

Top note is Rose de Mai; middle notes are Rose Geranium and Immortelle; base note is Musk.

Exquisite

Rose de Mai is beautiful. I grow many types of roses in my garden, each with their own fragrance and personality. Jean-Claude Ellen understands the beauty and complexity of fresh roses, and he has masterfully captured the beauty and vitality in this fragrance. It transports my mind to a clear, sunny day when the roses bloom in France. This fragrance is complex and potent enough to be worn alone, or could be layered with other fragrances if used sparingly. To my nose it has greater clarity and vitality than Jo Malone Red Roses, and unlike some other “rose” fragrances (Atomic Rose, Portrait of a Lady,” it remains uncluttered by spices and amber notes without being at all boring. Also, while lemon, tea or powdery notes are often associated with roses and rose fragrances, the balance in this one is superb.
