Herod by Parfums de Marly is a Woody Spicy fragrance for Men.

Herod is a tribute to one of the most accomplished racehorses of 18th-century Europe, a noble descendant of Turkish warhorses. The fragrance, named after this legendary stallion, draws from the powerful and robust masculinity of tobacco, wood, and patchouli, blended with an alluring mix of spices and a creamy vanilla undertone. Parfums de Marly has created a scent that embodies the strength and heritage of the Marly collection, a line inspired by the love of thoroughbred horses and the art of fine perfumery. With its smoky, spicy opening and a sultry, resinous heart, Herod captures the essence of this noble animal’s spirit.

This fragrance is perfect for those who seek a bold, sensual scent with a deep, warm character. The balance between tobacco, spice, and vanilla makes it an ideal choice for colder months but versatile enough for year-round wear. It’s a fragrance that exudes power, elegance, and confidence, making it an ideal signature scent for men and women alike who enjoy the richness of tobacco-infused perfumes.

Tobacco Overdose

I really thought I would like this one. The notes were very appealing to me on paper, but the actual fragrance is very tobacco heavy and cloyingly old-fashioned. It smells like an older man with a smoking habit. Not entirely in a bad way: the scent is warm and cozy with a sweet vanilla base, but it's definitely not my vibe, and I've smelled much better tobacco perfumes. The performance is also surprisingly short-lived for the type of fragrance it is. It packs a punch at the outset, but fades fairly quickly.

Unique, but not for me

This was an experimental scent for me. I like unique scent DNAs, but this was just a little too much like the smell of a smoker who sprayed on cologne to mask the odor. The tobacco really comes though strong! If tobacco scents are your jam, this is for you.

Samples

Fragrances were fresh. Big enough to get a good sense of the cologne’s. Will try more samples.
