    Created in 2004 by Jean-Claude Ellena, Hermessence is a collection of unique fragrances conceived as olfactory poems using perfuming’s most exclusive elements. As sober and intense as Japanese haiku, they reinvent a nature that is as precious as it is unusual, as if rendered by the inspired writing of a composer in search of the new.

    Osmanthe Yunnan: conceived after a visit to the Forbidden City of Beijing, this is a silky alchemy of osmanthus petals and Chinese tea whose flowers release facets of freesia and dried apricot.The delicate aromas of tea “lead us by the nose to the Imperial Palace...” Hermessence Osmanthe Yunnan was launched in 2005.

    Pretty sure they sent me the wrong sample

    A coworker was using this perfume and it smelled really feminine, floral and sweet. I decided to get a sample to see if I really like it. The ordering process was easy and shipping was quick (hence the two stars). However, when I got the sample it smelled totally different (like a strong cologne). I reached out to customer service and they asked me to send the sample back so they could investigate. It was too much of a hassle to return a tiny sample so I threw it away instead. They only offered to send me a return slip and didn't offer to send me a replacement sample. So if I were to get a new sample, I'd have to reorder and pay for shipping again...I'll look for another website to buy the sample. Not worth it for me.

    This is a nice scent, but it’s VERY subtle even when you first put it on and doesn’t have great staying power.
