    Created in 2004 by Jean-Claude Ellena, Hermessence is a collection of unique fragrances conceived as olfactory poems using perfuming’s most exclusive elements. As sober and intense as Japanese haiku, they reinvent a nature that is as precious as it is unusual, as if rendered by the inspired writing of a composer in search of the new. Enriched each time the perfumer discovers a new country, a language, a culture or simply extraordinary new ingredients, as of today the line consists of eight fragrances, exclusively available in Hermès stores.

     

    Ambre Narguilé: a fruited amber honey mixed with the spiral curls of smoke of a blond tobacco, it conveys the Orient: hot, voluptuous, inspired by the savoury scents of the hookah. “A sweet intoxication…”

    Hermes amber narguile

    I do love this scent for the colder weather. Unfortunately I now live in Florida where I feel like it’s always hot but I still enjoy these scents for the cooler days. I remember wearing it in ny and loving it. I do feel it can smell a bit masculine on me but I still do like it. It reminds me of eau duelle from diptique

    This is the OG, by perfumer Jean- Claude Ellena. It is a beautiful amber. Spicy, vanillic, boozy, apple pie-ish. It is linear but not, heavy but light. It is a pleasant drive on a sunny day. It is sitting with a drink, and someone smoking a pipe in the room, in front of a fire. It breaks your heart with its beauty. There are no hard edges. This is not a beast. It is for you to enjoy and those who get close to you. On my skin it only lasts 2-3 hours before it becomes a skin scent. For me, Scentsplit gave me the opportunity to experience, and now long for, this beautiful fragrance. The cost is prohibitive for an eau de toilette, that does not last, but what a gift to sample for now- to buy list for sure! Thank you!

    Can't say a bad thing about this

    Wonderful, balanced, and sweet/heady without being sugary or overwhelming. Perhaps a little heavy for very hot days, but a lovely, warm, welcoming and surprisingly sophisticated scent. My favourite rendition of a caramel note.
