SEPT.21.1966 by Rundholz Parfums is a Aromatic Green fragrance for Women & Men.
“Two years after the first RUNDHOLZ release, their second followed, peculiarly named two years earlier than its predecessor. Sept.21.1966 is well curated excess; in certain ways, it is the exegesis of 03. Apr., bearing a similar structure of penetrating incense ornamented with fruit and powders. More akin to the soft, golden brown guggul incense, the heart of Sept.21. is more myrrh than frankincense. This scent blows smoke rings ever so gently around a compressed center of fruit-and-flowers-and-confectionary-chalkiness.
Your last cigarette because you committed to quit and slightly stale candies knocked about in the papery rubbish lining the bottom of a well loved and overused handbag give Sept.21. momentary flashes of irresponsible youths and the governesses who regulate them. They misbehave during morning prayers and they reprimand during morning prayers. The piquancy of magic berries smuggled out of a fairytale are reimagined as a breakfast cereal, hovering, petulant, beside a can of Lotte Sac Sac white grape drink.
The marketing seems to have more or less pitched this fragrance as a sweet grass fantasy, but this is, rather, a green of delectable tartness. Rhubarb is the verdant sour opening to Sept.21. that soon collapses into a compote with another version of heliotrope, this one skewing cosmetic in its airiness. The scent settles into the soft buttery lemon of magnolia—not in gigantic fleshy blossoms but as a weightless interpretation carried on summer breezes.
Wearing Sept.21.1966, I fondly recall some of my favorite parts of Holygrapie, the legendary 2010 collaboration between Comme des Garçons and the fabulous Japanese streetwear brand Undercover. Wearing Sept.21.1966, I recall Aretha Franklin’s ‘66 Soul Sister, her eighth studio album.”
