Itineris is a physical journey, sensorial, emotional and metaphorical at the same time. It is the olfactory story of Marco Polo’s historic journey, one of the most celebrated explorers of history, and a tribute to the spirit of adventure that guides the steps of the famous adventurers like those of any passionate traveler.
Left Venice when he was very young, in 1271, he reached with his father and uncle the far East across the Silk Road and became the personal adviser of the great emperor Kublai Khan. He stayed in Asia more than 20 years.
His story, told in the masterpiece entitled “The Million”, it’s adventurous as uplifting. The spirit of curiosity and initiative, his open attitude and his sense of respect for the Land of the Rising Sun, make this extraordinary adventurer also an example of dialogue and respect among peoples.
The notes of Itineris are rich and lively. An opening that reminds silk hints introduces in the secret garden of the emperor, with notes of mandarin and bewitching, honeyed osmanthus. The heart evokes woody ceremonial and treatments of ancient tradition. Intense heliotrope, rose and jasmine adorn the elegant peony, traditionally a flower cultivated for the Orient’s imperial families. A spicy base of amber, sandalwood and vanilla is the seal of a perfume that, in any context, intends to leave a trace.
Seals the bottle a very refined cap in Portoro’s marble. The very dark color with a gold striping pattern, reminds the richness of the emperor palace.
