I made a mistake

I got a 2ml sample because everyone was going crazy about in online. Now I'm absolutely in love/obsessed with it and it's almost $400 :( So sad

Awkward dry down

Smells amazing when you spray it, and it lingers in the air. I have never had a perfume not smell good or the same when it dried down, but this one did not. Still worth a try if you are interested. Great vanilla scent that is not sweet. It pulled more spicy on me for some reason.

Don't Get The Hype

I've been hearing all over social media about how this fragrance is unique, complex, and hard to explain but is so good that I "won't regret it". Well, I live in an area where Macy's is our "high end" department store and there aren't that many niche brands in Macys to smell. So I'm so glad that I was able to get a sample from scentsplit. After hearing the hype, I decided to pay a bit more and get a 2 oz sample to give me more of a chance to use it and see if it's really worth buying a bottle. 1. I should've stuck to the 1 oz. 2. To my nose all I'm getting are notes of black pepper, even though that isn't one of the actual notes listed. I can't get over the sharpness. It's like I freshly cracked black pepper and it went up my nose. Very spicy smelling. I can't smell anything else. I'm glad I decided to sample it and not blind buy it. I wished I got the same experience as everyone else and loved Amouage Guidance, but to me it's no.

Guidance

this is my first foray into Amouge frags. i definitely don't gravitate to arab houses, mainly bc i fear synthetic notes & at some point in time, i arrived at the conclusion that Arab scents usually smell synthetic to me. there is no synthetic note with Guidance! or if there is, it's blended so beautifully with the other notes that i cannot detect it!

man this fragrance is COMPLEX but it's so well-blended that i can never pick out exactly what it is that i'm smelling. i knew Amouge was a superpower when it comes to creating scents that last & project, so i only spray it on my lower back & lower knees. even so, i am always smelling it thru out the day but every whiff is a slightly different experience. i can never pinpoint the notes (except i think a bit of cinnamon on the top?) or exactly when the notes change but every time i wear it, theres a point in the day that i'll think "ooh! bug spray!" that's the only critique i can offer about this scent & likely the reason i won't attach myself to it like i have with PDM's Valaya.

all that said, Guidance is one of the most abstract, high-quality frags i've ever worn. i am intrigued enough to keep trying this house & possibly even reconsider my bias towards Arab houses:-)

Divine

I love this perfume so much. The frankincense and myrrh are so comforting and grounding. The hazelnut pops off my skin and I fall in love with this every time.

It’s a hit or miss..

When I first read about this fragrance on fragentica, most of the reviews ripped it apart. Yes it’s powdery. It’s strong. And that is exactly why YOU need to test it out on yourself to see if it works for you or not.
For me? I got several compliments every time I wore it. I absolutely love it. It lasts and the dry down on my clothes a few days later is divine. It reminds me of a vanilla chai. I will def be ordering a bigger sample. Don’t let the bad reviews deter you- like with any other perfume, you have to try it for yourself!
