LM PARFUMS – ARMY OF LOVERS
I usually approach rose-oriented fragrance with caution since this ingredient can easily give me a headache, but I appreciate a good rose perfume and yes, Army of Lovers by LM Parfums is a winner that is underwhelmed by many other fragrances of the range. Wear this perfume and the whole is room yours. It displays its force just a few minutes from application, becoming a part of you, becoming your alter ego, your obsession.
Ok, let’s start it and not been needled by the thorns of wild roses. Rose, this vibrant ingredient is the most respected element which immediately calls romance and lust. It appears in Army of Lovers with a soft dark gothic air in a co-existence with a citrus top, an earthy violet, oriental patchouli, a handful of spices, vibrant oakmoss, and a stamp of musky notes on it to chamfer the edges to a hypnotic render. A typical chypre accord rewrote in with hegemony of dusky roses.
There’s a dramatic purple color quality with this perfume that takes me to ancient Chinese art and I have no explanation for this unexpected imagination. Maybe it’s the mysterious blend of rose with other ingredients that cover it up like something highly valuable cocooned in translucent silk that cannot fully hide what’s inside.
From the oriental floral opening, it settles on a comfortable and soothing musk and cashmeran wood undertone that plays nicely on feminine skin. One of a kind, so far. And a unique rose composition you hardly find a twin for.
